About Shea D. Broussard, M.A., L.Ac.
Shea D Broussard is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of
North Carolina. NC#630 and a NCCAOM Diplomate of Oriental Medicine.
Shea is gender fluid with pronouns she/they/shea.
Shea began graduate studies in 2001, receiving a M.A. in Transpersonal Psychology and Certification in Dream Studies at JFK University in Orinda, CA.
Study continued for a second M.A. in Austin, TX at AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. Shea moved to Durham, NC in 2011 with two other acupuncture colleagues to begin Barefoot Acupuncture & Wellness, a non-profit organization promoting affordable, accessible alternative healthcare and community health education.
After the dissolution of the non-profit in 2013, Shea continued to focus on these goals in her private practice: AcuShea Wellness.
In April of 2019, Shea founded The Compassion Access Project (originally The Compassion Acupuncture Project) to meet further community health and mutual aid goals. In 2020, The Compassion Apothecary began creating in-house tinctures, teas, and care products to serve The Compassion Access Project.
The mission of The Compassion Apothecary & Access Project is to uplift and prioritize
BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and LGBTQIA+ Folx by providing:
~ Access to high quality herbal medicine to support mental and physical health needs
~ Items and education to promote self care and mindful healing
~ Access to safe and respectful mental and physical health resources including acupuncture
In her private acupuncture practice, Shea integrates archetypes, dreams, food energetics, and body appreciation into acupuncture treatments influenced by Five Element Theory, Dr. Tan’s Balance Method, Mikio Sanke’s Esoteric acupuncture, and Master Tang Points.
In her spare time, Shea enjoys gardening, singing, working with medicinal plants, their 3 dogs and puppy cat, feeding friends and framily, wood working, and living in a cabin with the love of their life.
